No handouts. Just stimulated opportunity.

Where the money goes

The Foundation has been self-funded since 2009. Every dollar that comes in goes to the work itself:

  • Trade training — getting RooferSchool into cities where the need is greatest
  • Homelessness research — the data collection that tells one situation from another
  • The Hikers Ball — underwriting nights that honor shelter staff, and getting donated goods to shelters
  • TrailShrinks — keeping the hikes free and open to anyone who shows up

The Foundation for Job Creation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, EIN 26-4542276. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Giving something other than money? Sponsorships, in-kind donations, venue space for a Ball, or a place to hold a training session are all worth a call: 732-995-3914.

Where grant money would go

  • Workforce training. RooferSchool takes trade instruction into urban areas — the trade first, then pricing, running a business, and what to do with what you earn. Fits workforce development and skilled-trades funding.
  • Homelessness research. Classifying homelessness in useful detail, in partnership with shelters and directly with people living outside. Fits research and housing-services funding.
  • Community programs. TrailShrinks and The Hikers Ball — free, open, and built around the people doing the hardest work in the fight against homelessness.

What we can provide

  • IRS determination letter and EIN documentation
  • Program budgets and use-of-funds detail for any specific proposal
  • Site visits — come to a hike, a training session, or a Ball
  • Direct contact with the founder, no development office in between
